The same idea, at different scope
WasteReady's pitch is tight and well made: photograph any paper transfer note and it reads the whole thing, handwriting included, today's ticket at the gate or last year's out of the filing cabinet, then submitting to DEFRA is one button rather than retyping into the government website. Their framing of the problem is the same as ours, and correct: your carriers stay on paper until October 2027, you go digital this October, so something has to bridge the two.
They back it with the sharpest compliance claim in this market. Production-approved on all fourteen scenarios with zero exemptions is specific and falsifiable, which is more than most providers offer, and they are on the GOV.UK list. They also offer two commercial guarantees: mandate-ready by 1 October or you pay nothing, and if a submission fails because of them, that month is free. Risk reversal like that is a real thing to weigh.
So this is not a comparison where we tell you they are behind. On the specific job of turning paper into DEFRA submissions at a gate, they are good, and their back-catalogue ingestion, building a two-year duty-of-care archive out of the filing cabinet retrospectively, is something we do not do as a designed workflow.
Where the scope diverges
WasteReady is for one side of the gate and says so. There is no driver app, no route planning, no scheduling, no container tracking and no invoicing, and none of that is an oversight. It is a compliance capture tool for a receiving site, priced and built as one, and it explicitly positions carriers as staying on paper until 2027.
LoadSnap covers the gate too, and then keeps going: the round is planned, the driver dispatched, the skip tracked through deliver and exchange and collect, the invoice raised, and where the carrier is also on LoadSnap the two halves of the movement pair and file once. If you only take waste in and somebody else's lorries bring it, most of that is weight you are carrying for nothing.
The other structural difference is what happens when your carriers do go digital in 2027. WasteReady's whole design assumes the front half of the movement is paper. That is right for the next twelve months and less right for the twelve after, and it is a fair question to put to them.
Two things worth checking before you sign
Neither of these is a reason not to buy, and we would rather name them than imply something vaguer.
First, we could not find a registered company. A search of Companies House for WasteReady and Waste Ready returns no results, and neither their terms nor their privacy policy names a legal entity, company number or registered address. For a supplier you are trusting with a statutory two-year record, that is a reasonable thing to ask about. For comparison, LoadSnap is a trading name of Web Hero Limited, company 15866557.
Second, there is a tension between the marketing and the terms. The headline promises mandate-ready by 1 October or you do not pay a penny; the terms state that they do not provide legal or regulatory advice, that use of the service does not guarantee regulatory compliance, and that they will not be liable for regulatory penalties. Both are normal in isolation. Together they are worth a question about what the guarantee actually covers.
Their price is £39 a month or £390 a year on the founding rate, £79 and £790 standard, free until October 2026, with the VAT treatment not stated anywhere. Ours excludes VAT and says so.

Where WasteReady may be the better fit
- Back-catalogue ingestion: photographing last year's notes out of the filing cabinet to build the two-year archive retrospectively.
- The sharpest and most falsifiable DEFRA claim in this market, at all fourteen scenarios with zero exemptions.
- Two commercial guarantees: mandate-ready or you pay nothing, and a free month if a submission fails on their side.
- Explicit offline capture at the gate that survives a DEFRA outage.
- Flat pricing with no per-note or per-driver metering, and less product to learn if the gate is your whole problem.
