The incumbent, and why that matters
Waste Logics Software Limited was incorporated in September 2006. That is not a marketing claim, it is Companies House, and it is the single most important fact on this page. Twenty years of a product being used by real waste businesses produces something no amount of good engineering buys quickly: the edge cases are already handled, because somebody hit them in 2014 and complained.
The product is correspondingly broad. CRM, online ordering, order management, logistics, a brokerage and subcontractor portal, billing, accounting integration, business intelligence, driver apps, weighbridge and compliance, and a customer portal. There are plug-in modules for SWMP reporting against BRE Smart Waste Plan, electronic archiving, and a garage workshop. Digital waste tracking is one feature inside an ERP rather than the reason the product exists.
They also have what newer products cannot fabricate: twenty independent reviews averaging 4.6 out of 5 across Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice, and named customers with quantified outcomes on their own site. If your board wants a reference call before signing, they can give you one.
Three things they do that we simply do not
Brokerage. Waste Logics handles four or more parties on a single load and monitors margin per job across them. LoadSnap has no brokerage model at all. If you arrange movements you never touch and your money is in the spread, we are the wrong product and this is not a close call.
Subcontractors. They allocate work to subcontractors and auto-email purchase orders. LoadSnap can record a third-party carrier and verify their Environment Agency registration, which is due diligence, not subcontracting. There is no allocation, no agreed rate and no self-billing.
Weighbridges and onboard weighing. They integrate with weighbridge systems and take bin-lift weight data from onboard weighing equipment. LoadSnap is weighbridge-agnostic: the operative reads the bridge and keys the figures. That is a deliberate choice that means we work anywhere with nothing installed, and it is also less capable than what they have built.
Where the newer product is the better buy
Waste Logics does not publish a price. Their pricing page returns a 404, and the only statement anywhere on the site is that the price is based on usage so the subscription grows as you grow. There is no free tier, no trial listed and no way to see the product without a conversation. That is a normal enterprise motion and it is not sinister, but it means you cannot evaluate them on a Sunday evening, and the first honest number you get will come after a discovery call.
LoadSnap publishes everything: free for ten loads a month, £25 for a self-carrier, and £39 to £249 as volume grows, plus VAT. Fourteen-day trial, no card, no call. If you have two trucks and a laptop, you can be filing to DEFRA before lunch.
The driver app is the other real gap in their direction. Their own plug-ins page describes drivers working via an Android smartphone or tablet, and we could not find any statement of an iOS app. If your drivers are on iPhones that is a question to ask them directly. And AI classification from a photograph, which is the thing that makes an EWC code a two-second decision rather than a two-minute one, is not something they advertise.
Price and accessibility
There is not much to compare, because only one side has published anything. Waste Logics: usage-based, quoted, no free tier, no listed trial. LoadSnap: free plan, then £25, £39, £65, £99, £169 and £249 a month plus VAT by monthly load volume, with annual billing at ten months for twelve.
You will see a figure of $75 per truck per month attributed to Waste Logics on pricing-aggregator sites. We could not find it on anything Waste Logics publishes and we are not going to repeat it as if it were their price. Ask them.
The reasonable read is that Waste Logics is priced for an established business with a procurement process, and LoadSnap is priced to be started by one person who has decided the paperwork has to stop. Both of those are legitimate ways to sell software.
