Cheap, focused, and live
WasteMatrix is built by AgriDigital around the weighbridge and the gatehouse, with a dedicated field app, and it is priced to be an easy yes: £30 a month plus £5 per user, free until the 1 October 2026 mandate. It is on the GOV.UK provider list, has passed DEFRA's production approval test and is integrated with the receipt of waste API. For a permitted receiving site that wants to be compliant without a project, that is a short and honest path.
The focus is deliberate. This is a product for the gate: what comes in, what it weighs, what it is, and getting that filed. It does not try to run a collection fleet and does not pretend to.
AgriDigital are also building a carrier product for the 2027 phase, called WasteNote, which is on a waitlist at the time of writing. If you want one supplier across both sides, that is their answer, and it is two products rather than one.
One record, or two systems
The question worth asking is what happens to the other half of the movement. A receiving site that only takes waste in from other people's lorries loses nothing by using a gate product. An operator who also collects has a carrier business that WasteMatrix does not cover, and the group's answer to that is a separate product that has not launched.
LoadSnap does both in one subscription and on one record. The collection leg and the receipt leg join, and where both parties are on LoadSnap the movement is filed once instead of twice. That is not a marketing distinction: two submissions for one load is double-counted tonnage in the national dataset, and it is the predictable consequence of a market full of tools that each know about one end of a lorry journey.
It also means the classification, the round, the container, the invoice and the filing are all the same record, so nobody keys a movement in twice.
Price and accessibility
WasteMatrix at £30 a month plus £5 per user, free until the mandate, is one of the lowest barriers to compliance in this market and we are not going to argue it is expensive. If DEFRA filing at a single gate is the whole job, it is a good answer to that job.
LoadSnap is free for ten loads a month, then £25 to £399 plus VAT by monthly volume rather than per user, so adding office staff costs nothing. Submission is on every plan including the free one, and never metered.
The seat-versus-volume difference is the thing to work out. Two people at a gate will find WasteMatrix cheaper. Ten people across an operation doing moderate volume will usually find the reverse.
