POPs

Persistent Organic Pollutants

The short answer

Chemicals that do not break down in the environment, found in things like older upholstered seating and some plastics. Waste containing them has to be destroyed rather than recycled or landfilled.

In practice

The domestic seating rules caught a lot of operators out, because a sofa is not obviously hazardous and the requirement is separate storage and incineration rather than the usual route.

Where LoadSnap touches it

POPs are carried through the consignment note workflow.
